2010 Honeymoon Trends in the Wabash Valley

More wedding bells will be ringing in the Wabash Valley as we slowly approach the warm summer months. As the bride to be and her bridesmaids entered the St. Mary of the Woods bridal expo one could see the excitement peeling from their eyes. Filled with enthusiasm about planning the special day; the bride strives to make the wedding she has been dreaming about since she was a little girl come to life. Finding the dream dress, selecting the perfect shade of vibrant flowers, choosing a stunning wedding cake…, and finding the perfect destination for the honeymoon.

As the brides and a few fiancés visited our honeymoon booth we asked them about their dream honeymoon destinations. Our research showed that the most desired locations for Wabash Valley couples this summer are the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Mexico. Most of the couples are looking for an all-inclusive experience.

Despite the economic downturn, newlyweds are still willing to spend more on their honeymoon than on a typical vacation. They want their honeymoon experience to be romantic, exotic, and oftentimes unique. And, they are willing to spend a little bit extra to make their dreams come true.

The Caribbean was the number one honeymoon destination mentioned amongst brides; despite the fact that many of the couples are getting married during the summer months which, after all, are considered to be hurricane season for these islands.

Each Caribbean island offers its own unique personality. Some of the most popular islands among Wabash Valley brides are Jamaica, St. Lucia and the Dominican Republic. Offering a slow-pace and relaxing environment, beautiful white sand beaches and clear turquoise blue ocean these islands charm many couples into wanting to spend the most important vacation of their lives there.

The Aloha spirit cannot be found anywhere but in the beautiful islands of Hawaii. The inviting nature of Hawaiians offers a warm and friendly atmosphere provided by the locals the moment you step off the airplane. The tall volcanic shaped mountains along with the pleasant trade winds create a contrast in the climates throughout the islands. In Hawaii, you’ll find rainforest jungles, fields of dry grasslands, and beaches with snow-capped mountains. The islands offer miles of diverse and rewarding hiking trails. Each of them has its unique charm and couples are bound to find one that reflects their desires.

Lastly, despite all the bad press Mexico remains a great honeymoon hotspot. Mexico is known for impeccable adult only all-inclusive resorts, white sand beaches, turquoise blue water and excellent food make it one of the most popular destinations.
